Osun student electrocuted with plugged phone

A 100-level student of University of Ilesa, Osun State, Gbolahan Ojolo, has reportedly died of electrocution triggered by lightning strike in his hall of residence in Ilesa, the Nation reports. Ojolo, a student in the Department of Business Administration, was said to be charging his phone and playing a game on it at the same time when thunder struck. Confirming the incident in a statement on Saturday, the Registrar of the University, Funso Ojo, said the incident happened on Friday. Ojo’s statement partly read, “The Management of the University of Ilesa, Osun State, deeply regrets to announce the tragic and untimely death of one of its students, Gbolahan Ojolo, a 100 Level student of the Department of Business Administration. “The unfortunate incident occurred in the evening of Friday, April 18, 2025. Pastor Patrick and Mrs Jumoke Adie today celebrated their 50th birthday, marking half a century on earth. The event took place at the Bethel Place Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ede, Osun State.


The celebration, which began amidst pomp and pageantry with inspirational praises to God, saw friends, families, colleagues and their congregants gathered to celebrate the couple’s remarkable journey, highlighting their commitment to serving others and spreading love.


As ministers of God, the couples have inspired their local church and community with their unwavering integrity, love and compassionate spirit.


For many of their friends, family and the congregation, the journey of the Adies as they mark their golden jubilee serves as a testament to their enduring love and dedication to their faith and trust in God.


Pastor Adie, who is the pastor in charge of Bethel Place Parish, together with the wife, was lauded for their selfless love, integrity and dedication by family and friends present at the occasion.
