Osun student electrocuted with plugged phone

A 100-level student of University of Ilesa, Osun State, Gbolahan Ojolo, has reportedly died of electrocution triggered by lightning strike in his hall of residence in Ilesa, the Nation reports. Ojolo, a student in the Department of Business Administration, was said to be charging his phone and playing a game on it at the same time when thunder struck. Confirming the incident in a statement on Saturday, the Registrar of the University, Funso Ojo, said the incident happened on Friday. Ojo’s statement partly read, “The Management of the University of Ilesa, Osun State, deeply regrets to announce the tragic and untimely death of one of its students, Gbolahan Ojolo, a 100 Level student of the Department of Business Administration. “The unfortunate incident occurred in the evening of Friday, April 18, 2025. Two die in Osun road accident

 


Two passengers on Friday lost their lives in a lone accident that occurred at Balogun Village near Ikire, Osun State.

It was gathered that the bus involved was said to be heading to Lagos from Ekiti State.

The deceased were said to have died on the spot, though operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Federal Road Safety Corps reportedly responded shortly after the crash.

The spokesperson for the NSCDC in Osun State, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the accident.

Adeleke said, “Today, April 5, 2024, around 1336hrs, one Oma bus from Ekiti going to Lagos had a lone accident around Balogun village which claimed two lives instantly.”

She added that those injured in the crash were taken to a private hospital in Apomu for treatment.

Adeleke added that the Osun NSCDC Commandant, Michael Adaralewa, enjoined road users, especially motorists, to always obey traffic rules and regulations while driving in order to avoid loss of lives and property..
