Oyo citizens will choose my successor in 2027 - Makinde

  Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has declared that the people of the state will determine who succeeds him in 2027. Makinde made this declaration via a statement issued on Saturday. The statement was made available to journalists through the Special Adviser to the governor on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju. The governor maintained that residents of the state would decide the destiny of the state by choosing his successor. He however said that he will reveal to the citizens the individual he will support to succeed him as governor. Christmas Day Road Accident Claims Nine lives in Osun

Nine persons have reportedly lost their lives in a road traffic accident which occurred on Christmas day in Osun State.

The accident occurred along the Ikirun-Offa highway near Inisa town.

It involved a trailer laden with bags of beans and conveying passengers to Edo State from Niger State.

The accident led to the death of nine of the passengers.

Other passengers were seriously injured and were rushed to Orotunde Hospital, Ikirun, for medical attention, while the bodies of the dead passengers were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

The spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Adeleke Kehinde also confirmed the accident.

Adeleke revealed that the accident occurred in the early hours of Christmas Day at Yidi Junction, Inisa town.

“Today, Monday 25th of December, 2023, one Mitsubishi Canter with plate number MNA606SB NIGER carrying bags of beans from Niger State to Benin Edo State was involved in an accident in the early hours, which resulted in the death of nine people out of 12.

“FRSC officers evacuated and moved the three injured passengers to Orotunde Hospital, Ikirun, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

“Bags of beans and the vehicle involved have been evacuated to Inisa Police Divisional Headquarters
