Oyo Kingmakers Who Collected Bribe May Be Prosecuted -Makinde

  Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has threatened to prosecute and punish all Chiefs or Kingmakers within the Oyomesi or others, who might have collected bribe or gratification in the selection process that culminated into the emergence Akeem Abimbola Owoade as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo. This followed reports that cash was allegedly offered to some chiefs by a contender for the Alaafin stool. Makinde issued the warning on Monday during the official presentation of the Staff of Office and Certificate of Appointment to Oba Owoade.  Owoade succeeded late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, whose reign lasted for five decades. Kogi Governorship Election: APC’s Ododo Defeat Ajaka, Melaye to emerge winner



The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi State, Usman Ododo has been declared winner of the November 11 poll.

Ododo’s victory was announced by the State Returning Officer, Prof Johnson Urama.

Urama made the declaration at 10:23 pm on Sunday.

“Ahmed Usman Ododo of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” he said.

Ododo won with 446,237 votes, defeating his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who scored 259,052.

Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 46,362 votes.
