Osun: Fire Destroy Property Worth N15.3bn in 2024

    Osun State Fire Service says property worth N15,308,651,017 were lost to fire outbreaks in the state between January and December 2024. The losses were recorded in the state fire service's annual ‘fire incident record,’ which the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) obtained on Friday in Oshogbo. According to the data, the state fire service received 103 fire outbreak calls in the year under review, and it attended to 16 additional non-fire-related calls. The data also reflected that the majority of the fire outbreaks took place in February and December when 20 fire outbreaks were recorded each. This was followed by the month of May when property worth N1.249 billion was destroyed during five recorded fire incidents. Eid-ul-Maulud: FG declares Wednesday Public Holiday

 

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday 27th September as Public Holiday in commemoration of this year’s Eid-ul-Maulud celebration.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Oluwatoyin Akinlade in a statement said the minister, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo who made the declaration in Abuja congratulated all Muslim faithful both home and in the Diaspora for witnessing this year’s occasion.

“His admonition to Nigerians, is to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) exemplified.

“The Honourable Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has urged Nigerians, especially our youths, to embrace the virtues of hard work and peaceful disposition to fellow humans, irrespective of faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity and join hands with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led-Administration in its effort to build a progressive and enviable Nation that all citizens will be proud of”, the statement added.
