Osun: Fire Destroy Property Worth N15.3bn in 2024

    Osun State Fire Service says property worth N15,308,651,017 were lost to fire outbreaks in the state between January and December 2024. The losses were recorded in the state fire service's annual ‘fire incident record,’ which the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) obtained on Friday in Oshogbo. According to the data, the state fire service received 103 fire outbreak calls in the year under review, and it attended to 16 additional non-fire-related calls. The data also reflected that the majority of the fire outbreaks took place in February and December when 20 fire outbreaks were recorded each. Taiwo Akinkunmi, the man who designed Nigerian flag is dead



 Taiwo Akinkunmi, the man who designed  the Nigerian flag, is dead. The elderly man was aged 87 until his demise.

One of his children, Akinkunmi Akinwumi, announced his death in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“Life is indeed transient; I can say boldly that you lived a life with a landmark. Continue to rest, my father! Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi (O.F.R.): Great Man has gone,” he wrote.

Akinkunmi is reported to have died in the early hours of Wednesday after a brief illness.

On his 85th birthday in 2021, former President Muhammadu Buhari celebrated Akinkunmi for upholding “the values that every citizen should emulate for nation building, which include humility, selflessness, integrity and a keen interest in seeking greater good for country and humanity”.
