Osun student electrocuted with plugged phone

A 100-level student of University of Ilesa, Osun State, Gbolahan Ojolo, has reportedly died of electrocution triggered by lightning strike in his hall of residence in Ilesa, the Nation reports. Ojolo, a student in the Department of Business Administration, was said to be charging his phone and playing a game on it at the same time when thunder struck. Confirming the incident in a statement on Saturday, the Registrar of the University, Funso Ojo, said the incident happened on Friday. Ojo’s statement partly read, “The Management of the University of Ilesa, Osun State, deeply regrets to announce the tragic and untimely death of one of its students, Gbolahan Ojolo, a 100 Level student of the Department of Business Administration. “The unfortunate incident occurred in the evening of Friday, April 18, 2025. Two Suspected motorcycle thieves arrested In Osun

 

 

Two residents of Osogbo, Osun State, suspected of stealing a motorcycle were arrested in the Olugun Area of the community on Saturday.

The suspects, whose names were given as Samad and Habeeb, having successfully stolen the motorcycle, were caught dismantling it in Olugun Area by some hunters.

According to reports, some residents became suspicious of the two men and alerted some local hunters within the neighborhood, who moved to the scene and arrested the suspects.

A resident who craved anonymity said, “Samad is 27 years and his accomplice, Habeeb is a 23-year-old man. They stole the motorcycle but we can’t say specifically where they stole it

“But on Saturday, we saw them dismantling it. They had a sack with them and they were packing the parts of the motorcycle into the sack as they dismantled it.

“Some residents became suspicious and alerted some local hunters living close to the neighborhood. They came to the scene immediately and arrested the two suspects. They were handed over to the police.”

When contacted on Sunday, Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, promised to contact the Division covering the community where the suspects were arrested for details.
