Oyo Kingmakers Who Collected Bribe May Be Prosecuted -Makinde

  Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has threatened to prosecute and punish all Chiefs or Kingmakers within the Oyomesi or others, who might have collected bribe or gratification in the selection process that culminated into the emergence Akeem Abimbola Owoade as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo. This followed reports that cash was allegedly offered to some chiefs by a contender for the Alaafin stool. Makinde issued the warning on Monday during the official presentation of the Staff of Office and Certificate of Appointment to Oba Owoade.  Owoade succeeded late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, whose reign lasted for five decades. GROUP, RESIDENTS PROTEST IN OSUN OVER SUBSIDY REMOVAL, NAIRA FLOATING

 


Following the hardship faced by many Nigerians as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy, a coalition of civil society groups in Osun State have taken to the streets to protest against the economic hardship in the country.

The protesters, who converged at the Ayetoro area of Osogbo at about 8 am, marched to major areas of the city with placards in their hands.

Speaking at the protest ground, chairman of the coalition, Comrade Waheed Lawal, noted that Nigerians are faced with the issue of poverty, hunger, confusion and palpable frustration as a result of the economic policies of President Tinubu.

The protesters called on the federal government to put in place palliatives to cushion the effects of the removal of petrol subsidy on Nigerians.

They also demanded an end to the Naira floating policy and the reversal of other economic policies that have made life difficult for Nigerians.
