Osun Rep commissions ICT centre, distributes cars, motorcycles to empower constituents

Member of the House of Representatives for the Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, Osun State, Hon. Lukman Mudashiru, has commissioned a block of classrooms and an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre within two years of his stewardship.

Speaking during the distribution of empowerment items to his constituents at the Baptist Day School playing ground, Oke-Odo, beside Bowen University in Iwo, the lawmaker said that the equipment was distributed to artisans, political leaders, and entrepreneurs through federal government funds.

He stated that the equipment distributed included cars, grinding machines, motorcycles, sewing machines, and farm implements, adding that beneficiaries were selected according to the number of electoral wards in each local government.

He also noted that the recently commissioned projects include a block of six classrooms at NUD Primary School, Ile-Ogbo, and an ICT centre at the Federal College of Education, Iwo.

Hon. Mudashiru, who mentioned that the distribution of the equipment cut across genders, added that it attested to the recognition of the role of both men and women in the socio-economic growth of the constituency.

“I have enjoyed support from my people in the last two years. Their continuous support shows that they did not just vote for me, they are concerned about my success at the job they gave me. Therefore, I have also been doing all I could, moving across ministries, departments and agencies of the federal government to ensure budgetary allocations meant for my people are delivered and right on time.

“I know my people’s needs and that is why I keep planning pragrammes tailored towards that in order to keep their business and means of livelihood alive. These programmes are so dear to my heart. My team and I are very intentional about it and we will keep pushing to meet their expectations without necessarily burning our fingers.”

The lawmaker urged the beneficiaries to utilise the items in line with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s vision of eradicating joblessness and poverty in the state.

He added that the projects and empowerment tools were all aligned with his electoral promises of enhancing the welfare of the people and giving every child an opportunity to be educated in a decent environment with modern tools.

According to one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Gbadegesin Mutiyat, she said: “I never thought I would ever benefit from the lawmaker’s empowerment programmes. He has done so many of such empowerment initiatives and I was looking at it from a distance. As a widow, when I was contacted that my name had been picked, I thought it was a dream. I am happy I have collected a sewing machine today. It will resuscitate my dying business and I would be able to take care of my children”, she said.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Sunday Bisi, who led the PDP state executives to commission the ICT centre, lauded the lawmaker for his commitment to his people and the party’s ideals of social development.

“Mudashiru has invited the party to 10 mega empowerment programmes in less than two years of representing the constituency. I encourage the beneficiaries to make good use of the tools”, he said.
