Make positive impact wherever you are deployed – Adeleke to NYSC members
The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has charged
members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to embrace diversity, foster
inclusivity and strive to make a positive impact wherever they were deployed.
Adeleke gave this charge during the closing ceremony of the
2024 Batch A Stream II orientation course at the NYSC permanent orientation
camp, Ede, Osun State, on Tuesday.
Adeleke, who called on the corps members to see themselves
as ambassadors of Nigeria, also encouraged them to utilise the opportunity of
the service year to grow and develop new skills for their personal benefit and
development of the nation.
In his words, “I urge you to uphold the ideals of the NYSC
scheme – unity, patriotism and selfless service.
“You are not just ambassadors of your respective states or
regions but ambassadors of Nigeria as a whole. Embrace diversity, foster
inclusivity and strive to make a positive impact wherever you are deployed.”
Earlier in his address, the Osun State NYSC Coordinator,
Agbor Ndoma Obim urged the corps members to carry forward the values of
discipline, integrity and selflessness learnt during the. orientation course.
In his words, “Ensure you discharge your duties at your
places of primary assignments with utmost sense of dirty and be committed to
the ethics of the organisation you are posted to.
“I implore you to embrace the opportunities and challenges
that lie ahead with an open mind and spirit of innovation. Let your service be
driven by a passion for national development and a commitment to making a
tangible difference in the lives of the people you serve.”
Obim reminded the corps members that the skills they
acquired in camp will empower them to become self reliant and contribute
meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
