Oyo Kingmakers Who Collected Bribe May Be Prosecuted -Makinde

  Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has threatened to prosecute and punish all Chiefs or Kingmakers within the Oyomesi or others, who might have collected bribe or gratification in the selection process that culminated into the emergence Akeem Abimbola Owoade as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo. This followed reports that cash was allegedly offered to some chiefs by a contender for the Alaafin stool. Makinde issued the warning on Monday during the official presentation of the Staff of Office and Certificate of Appointment to Oba Owoade.  Owoade succeeded late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, whose reign lasted for five decades. Invasion: Oyo govt demolishes building belonging to Yoruba nation agitators’ alleged sponsor

 

 

Oyo State government has demolished a building belonging to Modupe Onitiri-Abiola, one of the alleged sponsors of Saturday’s attack on the government secretariat.

It would be recalled that some people who claimed to be Yoruba nation agitators had on Saturday stormed the Secretariat in a bid to take over the House of Assembly.

The government has now taken action by demolishing the building where Onitiri-Abiola allegedly declared Yoruba nation.

The building, according to sources, was demolished on Wednesday.

Fatai Owoseni, Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde, confirmed the development to journalists on Wednesday.

Owoseni in a brief telephone conversation said, “You can get more details from the Commissioner of Police”.
