Osun student electrocuted with plugged phone

A 100-level student of University of Ilesa, Osun State, Gbolahan Ojolo, has reportedly died of electrocution triggered by lightning strike in his hall of residence in Ilesa, the Nation reports. Ojolo, a student in the Department of Business Administration, was said to be charging his phone and playing a game on it at the same time when thunder struck. Confirming the incident in a statement on Saturday, the Registrar of the University, Funso Ojo, said the incident happened on Friday. Ojo’s statement partly read, “The Management of the University of Ilesa, Osun State, deeply regrets to announce the tragic and untimely death of one of its students, Gbolahan Ojolo, a 100 Level student of the Department of Business Administration. “The unfortunate incident occurred in the evening of Friday, April 18, 2025. "Eid-El-Fitri, A Message of Forgiveness, Understanding"- Rep Akande-Sadipe



As communities around the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, the lawmaker representing Oluyole federal constituency, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe has called for forgiveness and understanding among Nigerians.

She said this in a message she personally signed on Wednesday, extending her greetings and heartfelt wishes for a joyous and blessed occasion to muslim Ummah.

The Lawmaker stressed that Eid-el-Fitri is a time for reflection, renewal, and rejoicing. 

She said, "It is a time to reaffirm our commitment to the principles of compassion, forgiveness, and understanding. As we gather with family, friends, and loved ones, let us embrace the spirit of forgiveness, seeking reconciliation and healing in our relationships".

"May Allah grant us the wisdom to learn from our mistakes and the strength to forgive others. Let us extend a hand of kindness and compassion to those in need to embody the true essence of Eid-El-Fitr".
