Nollywood Veteran Actor, ‘Agbako’ is dead

  Veteran actor, Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, popularly known as Charles Olumo and Agbako, is dead. A  statement by the president of Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) , Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin on Instagram on Thursday.   He wrote, “#tampanglobal announces the passing of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as AGBAKO. Details of the burial arrangements will be shared at a later time. Good night father, 25/02/1923 to 31/10/2024.”   Nollywood actor, Jide Kosoko, also confirmed Agbako’s demise as he wrote: “Good night ooo, Baba Charles. a.k.a Agbako, 101 years, ba wasa ba. R I P.”   Agbako clocked 101st this year.

President Tinubu Congratulates Funke Akindele on Box Office Record

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated filmmaker, Ms. Funke Akindele on her record-setting film, commending the ace thespian for her contributions to the growth of the industry.

It’s in the news that actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele has made one billion naira in tickets sales at the box office and she was able to get the milestone with her latest movie “A Tribe Called Judah” in less than one month of the release of the movie.

A Tribe Called Judah’ earned N1 billion in three weeks after it was released and this a record in nollywood.

Tinubu equally celebrated the ingenuity, creativity, and immense artistic talents of Nigeria’s thriving entertainment industry.

The President extolled the excellence of the Nigerian creative industry, acknowledging its pivotal place as a medium not only for artistic expression but also a source of enormous soft power and viable export.

“The creative industry is one of the high-employment sectors, providing jobs for our able and talented youths. It is an industry that is crucial to my administration. I salute Nigerians for their enduring support and patronage of home-grown creative efforts. We will provide the conducive environment for the industry to thrive further,” President Tinubu stated.
