Osun: Fire Destroy Property Worth N15.3bn in 2024

    Osun State Fire Service says property worth N15,308,651,017 were lost to fire outbreaks in the state between January and December 2024. The losses were recorded in the state fire service's annual ‘fire incident record,’ which the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) obtained on Friday in Oshogbo. According to the data, the state fire service received 103 fire outbreak calls in the year under review, and it attended to 16 additional non-fire-related calls. The data also reflected that the majority of the fire outbreaks took place in February and December when 20 fire outbreaks were recorded each. Adeleke lauds senator for assisting Osun residents

 

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has lauded lawmaker representing Osun East in the Senate, Francis Fadahunsi, for assisting in ameliorating poverty through different empowerment initiatives for residents of the state.

Speaking at an empowerment programme organised by Fadahunsi for 100 people held in Ilesa on Tuesday, representative of governor at the event, Mr. Bayo Ogungbangbe, described the parliamentarian as efficient in meeting his constituents’ needs.

According to him, distribution of the empowerment tools that include sewing machines, hair dryers among others, would go a long way in providing means of livelihood for the residents.

Ogungbangbe, who is the State Commissioner for Cooperative and Empowerment, further said, “this is the sixth time that Senator Fadanshi will invite me to come and assist him in distributing different materials as a form of empowerment to his constituents.

“By distributing different kind of equipments like sewing machines, hair dryer, barbing materials and money as grants to empower people, he has done so well to empower his people. It has helped this government to at least reach out to people in terms of empowerment.”

He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the empowerment tools to improve their lives and contribute meaningfully to economy of their communities.

He said, “I will advise today’s beneficiaries to utilise what has been given to them judiciously and enhance their trade, so that it will lift them out of poverty and also for them to be able to help their communities and other people.”
