Oyo Kingmakers Who Collected Bribe May Be Prosecuted -Makinde

  Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has threatened to prosecute and punish all Chiefs or Kingmakers within the Oyomesi or others, who might have collected bribe or gratification in the selection process that culminated into the emergence Akeem Abimbola Owoade as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo. This followed reports that cash was allegedly offered to some chiefs by a contender for the Alaafin stool. Makinde issued the warning on Monday during the official presentation of the Staff of Office and Certificate of Appointment to Oba Owoade.  Owoade succeeded late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, whose reign lasted for five decades. Robbers invade three communities in Ibadan


 Armed robbers on Tuesday morning invaded three communities in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The robbers were said to have carted away money, phones, pieces of jewelry and other items.

The affected communities include Alaja, Seriki, and Ogogo on the new Ibadan/Oyo Expressway in the Akinyele Local Government Area of the state. According to reports, the incident happened around 3 a.m.

A community leaders, Raji Kazeem, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said, “Yes, it was true. The armed robbers came in the mid the night and robbed some houses. That’s why you saw landlords and landladies discussing in different groups.”

As of press time, all efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were not successful as he did not pick up his calls nor respond to the messages sent to his mobile number.
